Indya Connley – Mount Buffalo

An Ode to Impermanence

These images work to serve as a reminder that we exist in a temporary space, where there is no longer a guarantee that future generations will inherit the world inclusive of its current natural beauty.Using materials collected from the Mt.Buffalo region after the 2019/2020 summer’s ravaging bushfire season, the process of using lumen printing as a basis for the work speaks to an issue of impermanence where what you see is merely an ephemeral impression which will eventually be lost. The transient nature of politics fosters an environment where the policy makers who are responsible for climate change action are guilty of making shortsighted and uninformed decisions, more heavily influenced by factors like retaining leadership, and lining pockets -not sustainability and long-term outcomes.
